Baby Chicks Can be Dangerous Easter Gifts

Signs advertizing baby chicks or ducklings for sale are beginning to show up around the state, and parents might be tempted to purchase them as Easter gifts. But the young fowl can be dangerous for young children, warn state health officials, and should be avoided as gifts.

High Demand Ends Home Energy Assistance Program Early

High demand for the federally funded Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has exhausted Idaho’s allocation sooner than usual this winter, causing the program to close almost three weeks early.
 
Families will no longer be able to apply for heating assistance through the program after the close of business today and are advised to call 211 or go to www.idahocareline.org for information on other resources that may be available to those struggling to meet home energy or other needs.

Dept. of Health and Welfare Expands Office Hour Closures

Due to additional state agency budget reductions announced last week, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is expanding its office hour closures from a half day every other Friday to a full day on those Fridays. The closures will begin next week, and continue through June 11th.
