Food Assistance
|
|
| The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (a.k.a. the Food Stamp Program) helps low-income families supplement their food needs by providing limited funds in order to buy foods necessary for staying healthy.
Who is eligible?
In order to receive food assistance from the State of Idaho, you must complete the application process and meet certain eligibility requirements such as:
- You must be a citizen or legal immigrant.
- You must be a resident of the State of Idaho.
- Your household income must be less than the program income limits for your household size.
- With some exceptions, you must work or participate in an employment and training program.

Ready to get started?
Effective July 2011, resrouces must be under $5,000 to qualify for Food Stamps. Resources include, but are not limited to, cash, bank accounts, stocks, bonds, real property, household vehicles, and recreational vehicles.

Health Coverage
|
|
Idaho Medicaid provides health coverage or assistance paying for health coverage for people who meet certain criteria.
Who is eligible?
In order to receive health coverage from Idaho Medicaid, you must complete the application process and meet certain eligibility requirements. You must fit one of the following categories:
- Be a child under the age of 19, or
- Be a pregnant woman, or
- Be an adult with a child under the age of 19, or
- Be age 65 or older, or
- Be blind or disabled according to Social Security Administration criteria.
If you fit one of the categories above, you must also meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You must be a citizen or legal immigrant, and
- You must be a resident of the State of Idaho, and
- Your household income must be less than the program income limits for your household size, and
- Your resources must not exceed the program resource limits.
If your family's income is too high to qualify for Medicaid, we will determine if you or your children qualify for other programs that will help you pay for health coverage. A monthly co-pay may be charged depending on your income.

Cash Assistance for Families
|

The Temporary Assistance for Families in Idaho (TAFI) program provides temporary cash assistance for families with kids to help pay for food, clothing, shelter, and other essentials.
Who is eligible?
In order to receive TAFI cash assistance, you must complete the application process and meet certain eligibility requirements:
- You must be a citizen or legal immigrant.
- You must be a resident of the State of Idaho.
- Your household income must be less than the program income limits for your household size.
- Your resources must not exceed the program resource limits.

Child Care Assistance
|
|
The Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP) provides child care assistance to low-income, working families by paying for a portion of child care costs.
Who is eligible?
In order to receive assistance paying for child care, certain eligibility requirements must be met:
- You must be a citizen or legal immigrant.
- You must be a resident of the State of Idaho.
- Your income must not exceed the program income limits for your household size.
- You must be working, going to school, or participating in other approved training activities.
The amount of your child care benefit will depend upon your income, the cost of child care, the size of your household, and the number of hours you are working, going to school, or participating in other approved activities.
