At the request of concerned individuals and agencies, the Environmental Health Education and Assessment Program (EHEAP) addresses health concerns at sites on the National Priority List (or Superfund sites) and at other sites where harmful chemicals may impact Idaho communities. EHEAP staff, including a program manager, a toxicologist, and a community health educator, prepare public health assessments and consultations to determine if the Idaho public is being harmed by chemicals at these sites. These documents provide detailed information about the release of chemicals into the environment and the possible past, current, and future effects on public health. If chemicals are found to be harmful, EHEAP works with communities to prevent and reduce their exposure and risk of illness.
