Mission Statement: Protecting the health and environment of the people of Idaho through testing and research.
The Idaho Bureau of Laboratories supports state agencies, local health departments, private physicians' laboratories, clinical and environmental laboratories, and some members of the general public. Services include:
- Testing environmental, food, human and animal samples for disease and chemical content;
- Training and certification of private laboratories in the state; and
- Certifying x-ray and mammography machines.
We work closely with local, state and federal agencies to provide timely information related to public health.

- Provides chemical, radiological, and microbiological testing of environmental samples to fulfill regulatory requirements.
- Assists environmentalists in the detection of contamination of environment.
- Acts as technical reference for private laboratories.
- Certifies laboratories for the chemical and microbiological testing of drinking water.
