Oral Health Program

The Idaho Oral Health Program aims to reduce the proportion of children who experience tooth decay by increasing early access to preventive care. We target children ages birth to 12 years, their families and care providers.

Oral Health
Dental care and preventing tooth decay.

Oral disease or dental caries affect not only the health of the oral cavity but can also be detrimental to the overall health and well-being of individuals. Oral health is part of total physical health and research shows associations between chronic oral infections and low-birth-weight, premature birth, periodontal disease, diabetes, heart, and lung disease.

Oral health is essential to general health and well-being. In children, severe dental problems can affect their growth and school performance.
